BOOK MY MOVE

With spring fast approaching, it is probably time to start thinking about cleaning up and out before your move. All Service Moving has some spring cleaning tips for homeowners to use before moving out!

Tip #1 Remove Water Stains With Lemon For A Natural Faucet Fix

It’s time for those faucets to sparkle and shine! Start by rubbing a lemon half on the water stains, citric acid removes hard watermarks.

Tip #2 Clean Your Microwave By Heating Lemon Juices and Rinds In Water

Squeeze the juice of a lemon into ½ cup of water and drop the rinds into the mixture. Microwave for 3 minutes and let it sit for five minutes without opening the door. The trapped steam will loosen up any grimes and you’ll be able to wipe it clean with less work.

Tip #3 Use White Vinegar To Beat Shower Head Buildup

Vinegar dissolves the mineral deposits that can build up in showerheads over time. So fill a plastic bag with the white vinegar, secure it around the showerhead with a rubber band, and leave it overnight. Then run the shower before using it to get rid of the vinegar.

Tip #4 Clean  Stainless Steel Sinks With Baking Soda

This simple task can leave your stainless steel looking brand new! Wet your sink and faucet, sprinkle the baking soda, and scrub with a sponge. If you need more of a heavy-duty scrub, our full-service movers recommend adding a little bit of salt to the baking soda.

Tip #5 Use Newspaper To Clean Dirty Windows and Mirrors

For this spring cleaning tip, mix ¼ cup of white vinegar, 2 cups of water, and 2 teaspoons of liquid soap into a spray bottle. Spray this onto the glass and scrub it with newspapers to avoid streaks, and the ink acts as a mild abrasive. Then you’ll end up with shiny and clean windows and mirrors.

Tip #6 Place A  Wet Dryer Sheet On Your Ceramic Stovetop To Remove Burnt-on Residue

One of the easiest house cleaning tips is using dryer sheets! Dryer sheets are non-abrasive and a great way to remove any food or residue that’s burnt on your stove. Placing a wet dryer sheet on the stovetop for at least 15 minutes will help loosen the gunk and make it easier to clean.

Tip #7 Know Your Couch Or Rug Before Cleaning It

You don’t want to ruin your upholstered furniture by using the wrong cleaner. On the furniture, you can find cleaning codes to help you figure out which cleaner is best:

  • W: Use water-based cleaning solutions
  • S: Use dry-cleaning solvents. Do not saturate. Do not use water.
  • S-W: Use water-based cleaners or dry-cleaning solvents
  • X: Use a vacuum or brush only

Tip #8 Use A Window Squeegee To Scrape Pet Hair From Your Carpet Or Rug

The rubber edge of the squeegee is a great tool for both gripping and removing pet hair from your rug. Then finish up by vacuuming.

Tip #9 Use Velcro Strips To Keep Drawer Organizers In Place

This is a great moving and organizational tip! Attaching the grippy strips to one end of your drawer and the other to the organizers to keep them in place.

Tip #10 Recycle Old Socks To Use As Dusting Mitts

Cotton is a great fabric for trapping dust particles. Using a clean pair of old socks as dust mites and you’ll have better control over the dust!
