How to Pack a Suit for a Move

Suits are delicate and elegant pieces of clothing that every man or woman should have in their wardrobe. When the time comes for a move, they may find that they need to move their expensive suit to their new home or apartment. All Service Moving has seen it all when it comes to moving, and our California movers are here to make sure that you learn how to pack a suit for your move. This could mean the difference between having to purchase a new one upon arrival at your new home and preserving your suit for the future. Continue reading below to learn more.

How to Fold a Suit for Travel

One of the most important parts of transporting a suit is learning how to properly pack it so that it does not get damaged or wrinkled during transportation. Since a suit is composed of both a blazer and slacks (or a skirt), it is necessary that you begin with the blazer before focusing on the bottoms. Our Arizona movers recommend that you lay the jacket face down on a flat surface. After doing so, you will need to fold the left shoulder back. After completing these steps, you should turn the right shoulder inside out before tucking the left shoulder into the inside-out right shoulder.

After completing these steps, your suit should be much smaller and easier to fold. The next step is to lay the newly folded blazer jacket over your trousers or skirt so that they both resemble a cross, with the bottoms being horizontal. Finally, you should fold the trouser or skirt bottom over the jacket and later complete the process by crossing the top portion of the bottoms over the suit jacket.

How to Pack a Suit in Luggage

Now that you have learned how to fold a suit, it will be necessary to learn how to place it in luggage. Below, All Service Moving provides details on how to pack a suit in a suitcase.

Our Oregon movers recommend that you use luggage to transport your suit to your new home because they offer the most protection in a moving truck. We recommend that you purchase special plastic bags so that you can place your newly formed bundle inside of them. You should later place this plastic bag filled with your suit in your luggage as flat as possible. The luggage should also only be filled with other soft items of clothing and no shoes or books, as they can wrinkle the suit inside of a suitcase or other form of luggage.
